Clinic in Mactzul VI

We are ready for another day............I picked up Mauri in Chichi and then we set out for Gaspar, Kassi and Brett. Everyone was doing well this morning. Brett's breakfast, which consisted of bread, got snatched by a dog when he was not looking and Gaspar loved telling everyone that story today!

When we reached Mactzul VI there were no patients waiting for us. As usual when this happens..........saddness set in :(
We set the clinic up, hoping for the best. Gaspar went out to help the guys as they cleaned off the pavement from the heavy rains.

Kassi, Brett and I walked to a little tienda and bought everyone a Coke to drink as we waited for patients to arrive. We did have some patients for the day but not very many.

I did talk to Pedro and is wife. If you have had an opportunity to follow the blog, their son died a few months ago and it has been very difficult for them. His wife and he are not eating and are very, very sad. To lose a son at such a young age and not know why........how tragic.

When the ladies began preparing our lunch, Mauri and Kassi jumped in to help. If I had tried to help, the ladies would have run me out of the kitchen. I just do not have that talent.....but Kassi has learned from living in Gaspar's house and did very well. (If you click on the photo, it will enlargen and you can get more detail) The green pail in the back is black beans and in the pail on the rocks are the boiled eggs we ate for lunch.

Today is Josefina's birthday and we wanted to celebrate! I have had a cake for her but have had trouble getting everyone together. Marcos called today and said they would finish about 4 pm so we could all meet at the clinic together. When we heard the truck pull up, Brett, Kassi and Gaspar started lighting the candles. Josefina tore through the door of the clinic and you could tell she had one place she wanted to get to!!! :):):) She stopped for a photo op as we sang (quickly) to her.......then she returned and blew out the candles!

Josefina on the run!!!

Josefina more relaxed!!
If you go back to last years blog, there was a special celebration for her birthday at a hotel. Lisa Dunham taught an interactive class on maintaining good health. Everyone enjoyed it and there is a good photo there of Josefina and her mom.

After we finished the cake Aaron led us in the song, Alabara and Jordon led us in prayer. He thanked God for our safety, the well being of the patients seen today and that they were able to see the love of Jesus at the clinics.

It was a good day and we will regroup at the clinic in the morning at 0800.

Ok, off to K'iche' class........................Kinb'e na
Adios
Good-bye
