New Nurse, Ana

I have been wanting to introduce you for a few weeks to our new nurse, Ana.  This is Ana and she is a professional nurse that lives in Quiche.  She is a great asset to our group and is learning very quickly.  Her ability to speak K'iche' will be very helpful in the clinic setting. Her is husband  is a chauffeur and they are expecting their first baby in May or June.

Today, we had a light clinic. School has started to our Lemoa clinics have been smaller than usual.  I think this will change soon.

New Intern

We were out in Xepol today and I want to introduce you to our new intern.  Her name is Peri and she is a 4th year medical student.  She is living with Manuel and his family, while she is with us in the highlands.

This is Teresa and Peri with the view behind.  Xepol is a beautiful place but there is not a lot here.

Peri will be with us for about 2 more weeks and then head to the coast.  She will continue with medical clinics there and then join the next surgical team in Montellano.  We are glad to have her with us!

Time for Babies, Again??????

It is time again to go to Montellano for surgery!  I am disappointed that I only have one child to take.  I usually have 5-12 so this is different for me.  The last couple of rounds of children are all doing well and I still see them from time-to-time.

This is Heffer and he is going to have his palate repaired.  The Church of Christ in Lenoir is sponsoring his surgery.

He sure is a cute little guy and very friendly.

I will post more when we are in Montellano.

Chutzurob is Different!

We have been working with this congregation in Chutzurob for about nine years.  I still remember very well our first clinic there and it continues to do well.  I still believe that when the members of the congregation are involved in the clinic, great things will be seen.

A few months ago, they started building a new church building and today, we had our first clinic in it.

I think it is the quickest building that I have seen so far in Guatemala!  This is Sebastian and he is so excited!

We will pray that the congregation will continue to grow and see exciting things happen!

Long time............

Well, after a long break it is time to have the blog running again……Time has flown!  We finished the year with a lot of activity and then visited our families in The States  It was nice to be in NC over the holidays and to be with family and friends. I was able to visit with the South Fork Chuch of Christ, the Morganton Church of Christ and also members from Lenoir. The only disappointment was NO snow…..but I will survive!

So it is back to clinics!  Things will be different without Sara this year but it will be OK. We wish her the best as she has moved to Mexico.

Anna, a nurse from Santa Cruz will be working with us. I think that she will be a good addition to the team.  I will have to work on getting a photo of her.

We had a good clinic in Chajbal today.  It was small but good to get back in the swing.........so here we go!!!
