Eastside meets Mactzul VI

We enjoyed breakfast this morning and then we went in different directions. A few people traveled to La Palma with Josefina, a few with Marcos to Panajxit and the rest of us drove to Mactzul VI.

This was the first time I had seen the building after the outside had been finished. If you have a chance to revisit the blog with the Pepperdine group in February, there are photos of Kemmel and the guys using sledge hammers to knock down the entrance. This is the finished product and it is very nice.............Here meets the Church of Christ.

Maury and Julie have the pharmacy set up and ready to go. Julie may become a pharmacist in her next life...........this is her second day helping with the medicines.

Jackie, Ferne and Ted take a break between patients and talk with one of the members of the congregation here. Jackie took vital signs during the day, Ferne taught the children and Tom would pray with patients after their consult.

The group had some puppets for the children to play with and to help illustrate different lessons.
The children had an opportunity to color on paper plates and then were happy to show their finished product.

This little boy wanted his photo taken too but thought he should have something in his hands as the other children did. Before I could tell him it was ok, he turned and grabbed the closest thing...............which happened to be a bottle of urine dip sticks!!

These children were able to participate in a skit about God creating the world.

There were many activities inside and out....................concrete and chalk are still very popular.

Yesterday, the guys made the table and hung the white board in Xepocol. Today they hung a white board and also made a book case. Here Baruch teaches Manuel to use the power saw. We were glad at the end of the day that the guys still had all of their fingers :)

We saw 15 medical patients today and everyone did well.

We returned to Chichi and had dinner together, followed by a devotional on top of the hotel.

Benita and Allen had the opportunity to go to Josefina to La Palma. They were able to meet their ABC child and his family. It was a great experience for them and also a blessing.

Joe and Mary Jo had the opportunity to go to Panajxit with Marcos for a dental clinic. Joe started out by saying that they had visited a palace today and were treated as a king and queen. He then shared some scriptures with us, stating he was going to take the liberty to change some of the wording. As he read, we understood.

II Corinthians 8:1-5

And now brothers, we want you to know about the grace that God has given the Guatemalan Churches. Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up much generosity. For I testify that they gave as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability. Entirely on their own, they urgently pleaded with us for the privilege of sharing in this service to the saints. They did not do as we expected but they gave of themselves first to the Lord and then to us in keeping with God's will.

This caused many of us to reflect on when we entertain people in our homes we want things to be just right............the house clean, the dishes to match, the right atmosphere and the list goes on. Here, we are served the best of which they have. The dishes may not match, the table and chairs may need repair, the chickens may be running under the table and we may be eating in their bedroom........but most importantly, we are served with love.

We pray that we were an encouragement in the areas that we served today. As always, tomorrow is another day....................and another adventure.

Yeah.....the photo is blurred because he was in such a hurry to put something in his hands like the rest of the children!
