We ALL meet Xepol for the FIRST TIME

Up until now, I have told you that Pepperdine was meeting a new area but today was our first clinic in Xepol, so we all met Xepol together. It was a good distance from Chichi but the drive was not bad.

We unloaded the truck and hiked a little way with our gear. Lindsey is doing her best to wrap the rope so it will not tangle...........not as easy as it sounds :)

Kemmel and Lindsey are in front of the "house of prayer" as they call it. Matthew 16:18, is commonly placed on church buildings. It is the verse that Jesus tells Peter that He would build His church.

Patrick has become good at putting up a quick exam room..........sheets and rope come in very handy.
We did not have many patients at first, so they guys pulled out the handy megaphone. Gaspar climbed up in the tree, mounted the system and then announced the clinic.

After we built the exam room, swept the floor, constructed the dental area, announced the clinic............. Lisa gave us direction and then we were ready for the patients.

We saw 29 medical patients and 5 dental patients.
We set up an area for activities with the children.
Tim is entertainning the girls as they color.

Hey, girls??????? Where are you going????? Sometimes there is no privacy in Guatemala.
Today, the patients were a little more sceptical of the camera and I think it was because it was our first time here. This mother did not mind her photo being taken but several declined......and that is ok.

There was one lady today that had a small goiter. She told me that it had been growing for three months. We gave her the papers and encouraged her family to have some lab work and tests done and to return to the clinic in Lemoa. I hope that she will. As you would expect, her family was very concerned. Juan spent a lot of time talking with them and being sure that they understood what needed to be done. We prayed with them before they left the clinic and I hope to see them again in a few weeks.

We had safe travels today and we are always thankful for that. The students have been great this week but tomorrow is their last day of clinic with us. The week has passed very quickly. We will meet again in the morning and have two more clinics.
