More water filters in Chuchuca

The guys and I met for breakfast this morning and then we headed on for Chuchuca to deliver the remaining filters that we could not do earlier in the week.

Today was a really nice day......no rain and not too cold once we arrived in Chuchuca.

As we were driving, the guys started talking about something up in the trees. I thought that we were looking for some type of animal or bird but I was wrong. When Gaspar jumped out of the truck, Tomas followed and I was still a little confused. Tomas started climbing the tree and Gaspar was waiting for Tomas to drop whatever they were talking about.

They brought these back to the truck. They said that children play with them. They were firm but I was told that as the day progressed, they would become very soft. As you can tell, the truck started going as I took the photo. This road is very hard to travel on......and even more difficult to take photos on.

This family was waiting for us. Jose Israel Gomez Morente is in the red shirt. His sister, Emilia was in school as we visited. The family offered us two huge, huge pieces of bread and a pineapple juice. I got away with only taking one piece of bread........and I was very happy with that.

This is Maria Simaj Ajqui and her mom. Her sister, Reyna Suceky Simaj Ajqui, was in school. As you can tell, the names get long and a little complicated so when you have a whole group of children that you are trying to organize, it is very difficult.

This little lady lived in a huge field and she had a spring bringing in her water. Her sons are Jaime and Mynor Luis Ordonerz.

After we filled the water filter, we carried it to her kitchen and Gaspar answered a few questions that she had. As you can tell, it would not take much to destroy this kitchen.

This lady still does some cooking on her floor in the kitchen. She does have a small stove but sometimes it is difficult for people to change their ways of doing things.

As the spring was bringing in the water, you could tell by the color of the water and sediment that this family will really benefit from the filter.

This is the family of Agostin. He alwasys helps in the clinics and has two children in the ABC Program. Prisiano Garcia Gutierrez is in the green shirt and Rene Garcia Gutierrez was in school as we visited.

After we finished with the filters, we went to Agostin's for lunch. We ate in the church building since it is very close.

The drive home was difficult. We had eaten a lot since we were given snacks through the day and had just ate lunch. The truck was warm and now we were tired. We stopped along the way to buy some watermelon to eat. It was very red and sweet.

That was our day....................tomorrow, we will be in Lemoa for a pap clinic day and the babies who had surgery in February will return for their consult.
