Harding PA Students meet Chuchuca

Rick and the group from Harding University arrived on Sunday.  They, with Lisa and Kemmel, had safe travels and we are always thankful for that.

Today, we had clinics in three different areas.  A group had clinic in Caris, one group went to Xejox and a group of us went to Chuchuca. I went with the group to Chuchuca.

This is Hannah checking in the first ABC Child.  This is an ABC Clinic so the patients that we see today will not have to pay for their services.  We will have medical clinics and dental cleaning.

Before we started clinic, we went outside to pray with the patients and families.  Gaspar is getting ready to lead the prayer. The man behind him in the green scrub is Joe.  He has been coming down for a few years and in the past, has worked in Clinica Ezel in the operating room.

This is HyeJin and she is working with the children at the pila. After the children had their consults, they went to get their medicine and then went to the pila.  HyeJin is clipping their fingernails and teaching them how to wash their hands.

Rick, also worked at the pila and taught the children how to brush their teeth. Here, he is putting the red dye in their mouths and then they can see where they need to improve their brushing.

We can never talk too much about good hygiene. It is so basic to having excellent health!

One of the main events of the day, was when Rick saw a young girl with a wrapped hand.  I asked the dad about the hand and the girl started screaming.  Well, eventually, the dad was able to unwrap the hand and it had been severely burned in steam. The burn was terrible!  We got a driver to take Carlos and the young girl to the hospital. We will call in a couple of days to see how things are going for them.

The day was long for all of us but we accomplished a lot today.........we hope that may things were said or done that helped people and expressed the love of Christ.

Tomorrow, we will do the same types of clinics in different places!
