Clinic in Chichi

We all met in Chichi today for clinic.  Sebastian from Chutzurob called me last night and told me that he was bringing two patients to see us today. One was a baby with a cleft-palate and one was a young man who has not been able to walk for several years.

For those of you who have not met Sebastian, he is one fine man!  He will do anything to help someone and does it with such emotion.  In August, we had a baby that needed surgery.  The parents of Victor were too young to sign the surgical forms so Sebastian signed them.  Not only did he sign the forms, he also traveled to the coast with us.  Sebastian slept outside on a patio for four nights with the dad, was not able to take a shower and ate at the little store.  This is showing love for your brother.

So today, when Sebastian arrived, I walked down the street to help the young man that could not walk.  We slowly got him up to the clinic and he had some time to rest before we started clinic.  He had his mom and dad with him.

When we started clinic, Sebastian came back with the family and he was very emotional. He thanked us for seeing his friend.  He said that there was nothing more for him to do and he left them in our hands as he slipped out the door…………

Miguel is 22 years old and before the age of 16, he had a normal life.  He could run, play soccer and attended school.  At the age of 16, he had severe pain in his knees and at this point, he could no longer walk.  His parents took him to one doctor and he told them it was due to an infection in the knees.  Since then, he has lost all muscle mass and motor control.

I contacted Noe to see if he could see Miguel next Thursday at Caris and he can. I hate that that the family has to travel a little over two hours but at least they have a car to do so.  We will see Miguel and his family next Thursday at 10am in Lemoa.
