Today, we had a with Heidi and Oldin about our future laboratory here at Clinica Ezell.
Heidi has been working with Health Talents for many years and has her own laboratory in Mazatenango. She comes when we need her services and is very knowledgeable. We also met today, a laboratory reagent that will walk us through the process of obtaining the laboratory license. His name is Oldin and I was impressed that he set goals for this process.
On the left is Oldin, reviewing the legal requirements for a laboratory. Heidi is teaching Marta and Kevin how to use the different equipment needed. We had no difficulty finding blood donors to run the tests and learn how to maintain quality assurance or control.
Once the laboratory license is obtained, we can resubmit the papers for the hospital license.
One change that we need is to make the lab area larger so we will be removing a wall. Once we were told this, within 30 minutes all equipment and cabinets were removed and safely secured for the "renovation." More to come on that........
I told the construction guys today, "It is my personal job to make sure that you are not bored this year and that you have enough projects to do!" They just laughed at me, as I handed them a Coke!
