Pepperdine meets Mactzul I

We all met in Chichi this morning and divided into two groups. One group went to Lemoa for the regular clinic there and our group headed for Mactzul I.

When we arrived, it did not look as if we would have many patients but it turned out good. Carolina and several other students started painting different objects on the children and they loved it.

Here Carolina is painting Miguel. He lives in this area and usually comes to check out our clinics. As you can tell, the adults are also interested in the process.

Kemmel suggested that the men announce the clinic again to possibly draw in more patients. They wired the system, hoisted it on a pole and then Gaspar spoke to the community about the services being offered.

I introduced you to Tomas a few weeks ago. We went to visit his wife who was close to delivering their second child. Well, she delivered 5 days ago and now they have a little girl named Libiana. Lisa, Brian, Carita, Patrick and I walked to Tomas' house to check out the mother and the new-born, which are both doing well. Dr. Brian is a pediatrician, who was with the Pepperdine group last year.

This is Tomas and his wife with their new baby. His mother and father are standing in the background. Tomas told us that his son, Rogelio, does not want to go to school because he is afraid that when he comes home his new sister might not be there.

The mother of this little girl works in the little store near the clinic. You can see all of the chips and snack foods hanging on the wire.

After most of the patients were seen, Carita and Patrick started playing ball with the children. It was a challenge because they were kicking around a tennis ball.

One group shot before leaving the clinic.

During the day we saw 18 medical patients, 27 dental patients and 12 patients had their teeth cleaned. We hope something was said or done to cause people to think about their relationship with God.........this is more important that any medicine that we can offer.
Tomorrow we have two more clinics and will have many more adventures to tell.
