Pepperdine meets Chutzurob

Today I met the group in Chichi and had a quick breakfast before we hit the road. Lisa took one group to Pakaja Xesic and our group went to Chutzurob.

Chutzurob was a clinic that was started toward the end of 2008 and it has gone very well. For the year 2009, they have been placed on a monthly rotation.

Riding in our truck today was Julie, Josefina, Brandon and Maury. Brandon is a student at Pepperdine and is also in the Army. He told me that his mom has prayed that he would some day do a medical-mission trip.........so Sue, this photo of Brandon on his first medical-mission trip is for you!

This photo is of Drake painting and coloring with the children. This is Drake's second trip down and maybe there will be a third in his future???

When I was home, South Fork sent supplies down for children that we have in clinics. Here the children in Chutzurob are coloring the books and crayons that were donated. They really enjoyed it!

I love this little boy's hat! He is quite a little man!

These two little girls are twins and loved coloring.

Today for lunch we took everything to make sandwiches. Jose told us that this was his first peanut butter and jelly sandwich, ever!! I am sorry that I did not get the photo of his first bite but he loved it and did not refuse the second one when it was offered!! Jose is a great guy and I have enjoyed working with him. This is his second or third trip with us. He went to dental school with Marcos in The City.

Today we had 18 medical patients, 10 dental patients and one patient for dental cleaning. We had a few ladies that were pregnant..........using the past tense, "were" because as of right now, one of them may have already delivered. I will have to remember to take a few gift bags on our next trip there.

Sebastian translated for me today and he is always good to work with. We had a few patients who did not have a regular place of worship so we talked to them about this.........about their need for God, about God wanting a relationship with them and how The Church can pray with them if they return. It is always encouraging when patients listen and ask questions. I just hope when they return home and they will continue to think about what was said.

Tomorrow are two more clinics and we need to leave earlier in the morning than we have......but it will be ok.........please pray for our safe travels and that the patients will want to know more about our Lord.
