Today, one of my friends was buried.
I am often asked if I miss living in the United States and usually the answer is no.........but at times like this, it is difficult.
It is a reminder of how short, fragile and unpredictable life is. Sarah was only 45 years old and died in a tragic accident. It is a horrific circumstance that leaves her husband, Rick and her children to deal with. Many questions are left unanswered.
While Sarah and I never had an opportunity to spend a lot of time together, the time that we shared was important and I cherish it. She had a wonderful personality, great sense of humor, never spoke ill of anyone and would not participate in gossip. All are qualities that I admire and respect.
Sarah told me on many occasions that she wanted to continue her studies and become a nurse. This would allow her to participate in more Medical Missions. She had a heart of gold!
She and Rick visited Guatemala in 2010, with my parents. We had an ice cream celebration with all of our ABC Children. This is Rick and Sarah with Paulina.
When I visited NC, Rick and Sarah were always at the dinners in Morganton and Winston-Salem. They understood and appreciated the work of Health Talents International.
Sarah's death leaves me speechless and in shock, as it does everyone. But knowing that she is a Christian, a baptized believer, gives me the assurance that we will spend eternity together. Sarah loved the Lord and she would want you to know that.
This is the last photo that I have of us............taken in January before I returned to Guatemala.
The world is full of tragedy and pain but it is not our home. I believe that Sarah is one of those people mentioned in Hebrews 12:1. She is waiting for us and she is cheering us on!

This is soooo beautiful,Sheri!!!! She is with God and what a comfort that is!!!! Not many people are ever loved as much or by as many as our Sarah!!!!!!
What a legacy she left her loved ones.
So sorry to hear of Sarah's passing. I recall meeting her at least once at your dinners. Such a loss for her family and you as her friends. We will be praying for the distance that separates you from mourning with her family. Blessings. Scott M.
I am so sorry, Sheri. It is always hard to lose a friend but even harder when the friend is young and goes unexpectedly. My heart is with you.
